TENNESSEE BAPTIST DR NEEDED IN NEW YORK

MOUNT JULIET — Tennessee Baptist Disaster Relief has been asked to send flood recovery teams to New Windsor, N.Y.

New Windsor is in the Hudson River region of New York which received major flooding as a result of heavy rainfall in early July.

“We need teams immediately to assist residents of New Windsor in cleaning out their homes which have been heavily damaged by the floodwaters,” said Wes Jones, disaster relief specialist for the Tennessee Baptist Mission Board.

Tennessee DR volunteers who can lead a team to New York need to notify Jones at [email protected] and Elizabeth Holmes at [email protected].

Jones said that for now team members need to be credentialed. He also encouraged teams to take a chaplain with them if possible.

Jones also stressed that DR teams should not self-deploy.

He called upon Tennessee Baptists to pray for the flood victims and that people would come to know Christ through the ministry of the DR volunteers.
