LEADERS
Tevis Springs Baptist Church, Madisonville, recently called Sam Baines as pastor. He was ordained June 11 by South Madisonville Baptist Church, Madisonville.

Paul Ellis has been called as associate pastor of Maple Springs Baptist Church, Tellico Plains. He was ordained into the ministry on July 2.
Chase Sears has been called as pastor of Tulip Grove Baptist Church, Old Hickory. He recently served as assistant professor of biblical studies at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas. Prior to that he served at Oak Park Baptist Church in Jeffersonville, Ind., first as the family pastor and then as senior/lead pastor for seven years. He and his wife, Sarah, have five children.
Ronnie McDowell of Reed Springs Baptist Church, Philadelphia, has been called as senior pastor of Riverdale Baptist Church in Georgia. He will be ordained by Reed Springs on July 8.
Cane Creek Baptist Church, Tellico Plains, ordained Jeff Dalton into the ministry on June 4. He has been called as youth pastor at Poplar Bluff Baptist Church, Tellico Plains.

Brentwood Baptist Church, Brentwood, will host MedAdvance 2023 on Aug. 3-5 for people interested in short-term or long-term mission trips. MedAdvance brings together health care professionals, healthcare students, church leaders and individuals involved in mobilizing healthcare professionals. You will interact and learn from International Mission Board missionaries currently involved in this type of ministry. For information on costs or to register, visit imb.org/medadvance. In honor of National Nurses Month, Current Missions at Central Baptist in Johnson City delivered baskets to the nurses at the Veterans Administration at Mountain Home in Johnson City. Baskets were filled with snacks, lotion, chapstick, notepads and pencils, candy, Kleenex and flower seeds. A thank you note expressing our thanks was attached.
Jeraldene Heflin, wife of retired pastor Jerry Heflin, was inspired by a statement of David Jeremiah when he spoke of the value of writing Bible verses. Mrs. Heflin took the challenge and wrote out the entire Bible, word for word, from Nov. 24, 2021 to June 15, 2023. She is shown here with the notebooks. Danny Sinquefield, Harvest Field 1 team leader for the Tennessee Baptist Mission Board, recently presented a plaque from the Historical Committee of the Tennessee Baptist Convention to Peggy Ryan, administrative assistant to the pastor of Whitehaven Baptist Church, Memphis. The church will celebrate its 175th anniversary in September.
