Bethel Baptist Church, Greenfield, will hold revival services Aug. 18-21 at 7 p.m. each night with guest evangelist Joe Shannon.

Madison Avenue Baptist Church, Maryville, will celebrate its 75th anniversary with five special events in September and October. The services and speakers are: Sept. 8 at 10:30 a.m.: Greg Howard; Sept. 15 at 10:30 a.m.: Josh Glandon; Sept. 22, 10:30 a.m.: Mark Grubb; Sept. 29, 10:30 a.m.: Glen Cummings and dinner on the grounds; Oct. 20, 10:30 a.m.: Randy Davis.

LEADERS

Victory Baptist Church, Sharon, has called Michael Rust as pastor.

Union University has appointed Dan Slater, who joined the Union University faculty in 2010, as dean of the university’s McAfee School of Business. Slater replaces Karen Miller, who has chosen to return to the classroom after her service as the business dean. Slater and his wife Denise have been married for 25 years and are members of Englewood Baptist Church, attending at the Medina campus.

  • Jay Barbier, youth specialist for the Tennessee Baptist Mission Board met recently with several Tennessee Baptist youth leaders at a Crossings camp held at Carson Springs Baptist Conference Center in Newport. Barbier was the guest pastor for the camp.   • Sunday, July 21, was extra special for pastor Don Winters of Sugar Grove Baptist Church, Butler.   • Tusculum Baptist Church, Greeneville, recently honored pastor David Smith and his wife, Betty, at their annual July church picnic. Following 10 years at the church, Smith is retiring after 46 years of active ministry. The church presented Smith a monetary gift, an introduction to woodworking gift certificate and numerous cards from church members filled with $10 commemorating his 10 years of ministry at the church. Smith also has served as pastor of churches in Florida, Texas, Virginia, North Carolina and Rhode Island. He has been active in his local associations over the years, including Holston Baptist Association, based in Johnson City.
