JACKSON — Union University Press has published a new book, an exposition of Philippians, containing sermons preached in select chapel services during the spring semester of 2024.
Edited by Ray Van Neste and Justin Wainscott, “United in Jesus, United in Joy: Sermons on Philippians,” includes sermons from Brian Arnold, Andy Davis, Ken Lewis, Phil Newton, Justin Perry, Van Neste, Wainscott and Hershael York.
Van Neste is vice president for university ministries and dean for Union’s School of Theology and Missions. Wainscott is associate dean and assistant professor of ministry in the STM.
“Chapel is an important part of our life together at Union University, giving us an opportunity to gather twice a week as a community to hear from God in his Word and respond to him,” the authors write in the book’s preface. “These services remind us of our grounding in Scripture and of the centrality of Jesus Christ to our lives.”
With several chapel speakers in the spring 2024 semester preaching through Philippians, Van Neste and Wainscott said they wanted to gather the recent series into written form for wider dissemination.
“Our hope is that this work might encourage other Christians as they learn more about this particular book of the Bible, the truths it proclaims, and the Savior it exalts,” Van Neste and Wainscott write. “We also hope it will be a resource for other preachers as they prepare to preach through Philippians.”
The book is available for purchase on Amazon. B&R
