James Redding

FRANKLIN – James Claiborne Redding Sr., of North Fort Myers, Fla., died Nov. 2. He was 84.

A native of Nashville, Redding was reared in Union Hill Baptist Church, Goodlettsville, where he accepted Christ and later was called and ordained into the ministry there.

Redding spent more than 60 years in Christian ministry. He served as pastor of churches in Tennessee, Texas, and Mississippi. He also served as a missionary to Peru for 15 years and as a director of missions in Mississippi.

Redding served on the staff of the Executive Board of the Tennessee Baptist Convention (now Tennessee Baptist Mission Board) from 1983-90.

He was preceded in death by his first wife Marilyn. He is survived by his wife Geraldine Redding, four children, 11 grandchildren, and two great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held Saturday, Nov. 11, at Cole and Garrett Funeral Home in Goodlettsville. The funeral will be held Nov. 12 at 2 p.m. at Union Hill Baptist Church in Goodlettsville.
