GOTM GIFTS SET RECORD IN 2022-23

FRANKLIN — Tennessee Baptist Convention churches gave $2,262,288 through the Golden Offering for Tennessee Baptists in 2022-23.  “We did not meet the goal of $2.4 million, but it is the highest offering total in the offering’s history,” reported Vickie Anderson, executive director of Tennessee Woman’s Missionary Union. Tennessee Baptists gave $2,227,367 last year to GOTM.  There were 1,134 churches contributing to GOTM in 2023 compared to 1,123 in 2022. This

MOUNT JULIET — Tennessee Baptist Disaster Relief has been asked to send flood recovery teams to assist victims of Hurricane Idalia, which swept through Florida and portions of Georgia and South Carolina last month. BAPTISMS ON THE RISE ACROSS TENNESSEE, AROUND THE NATION IN RECENT WEEKS

HENDERSONVILLE — A baptismal outpouring at Long Hollow Baptist Church in Hendersonville on the morning of Aug. 20 reflects similar reports from around the country. Long Hollow celebrated 136 spontaneous baptisms that morning, leading pastor Robby Gallaty to call the events “miraculous” in a Facebook post.   That same evening, during a women’s event that included speaker Lisa Harper, approximately 50 more were baptized, according to a person in attendance.

DR TEAMS ON ALERT FOR GEORGIA AND FLORIDA

Wes Jones, disaster relief specialist for the Tennessee Baptist Mission Board, announced on Aug. 30 that the following teams/volunteers are being placed “on alert” for possible deployment to Georgia or Florida: chaplains, assessors, flood recovery, shower/laundry, IMT, and feeding teams. “We are asking volunteers to begin to plan for possible response as needed,” Jones said.

GROVE HILL EXPERIENCING MONTHS-LONG MOVEMENT

CHAPEL HILL — God has been stirring in the hearts of the members of Grove Hill Church in Chapel Hill.  Subsequently, the water in the swimming pool at pastor Ridley Barron’s house has been stirring, too. Throughout the summer, a series of unique baptism services have been held in the Barrons’ pool, where church members and family members have lined the edges of the water to see the gentle dunk.
