OFFICERS ELECTED, REELECTED DURING SBC ANNUAL MEETING

In addition to reelecting Bart Barber as Southern Baptist Convention president for another year, messengers to the annual meeting June 13–14 in New Orleans elected a slate of other leaders.

Jay Adkins, lead pastor of First Baptist Church Westwego, Louisiana, was elected first vice president. Adkins received 2,393 votes, or 63.27 percent of the vote, defeating Dusty Deevers, pastor of Grace Community Church of Elgin, Oklahoma (784 votes, or 20.73 percent) and Gevan Spinney, pastor of First Baptist Church Haughton, Louisiana (587 votes, or 15.52 percent).

Kason Branch, pastor of Creekstone Church in North Richland Hills, Texas, won the second vice president spot over Shane Terrebonne, pastor of Gulf Coast Baptist Church in Golden Meadow, Louisiana, by a vote of 2,502 to 2,098.

Nathan Finn, provost at North Greenville University, was reelected recording secretary, and Don Currence, administrative pastor of First Baptist Church Ozark, Missouri, was reelected registration secretary, both unopposed. B&R
