DR VOLUNTEERS GOING TO LOUISIANA

MOUNT JULIET — Three teams of Tennessee Baptist Disaster Relief volunteers will be traveling to Leesville, La., in a few days to help victims of flooding there.

Wes Jones, disaster relief specialist for the Tennessee Baptist Convention, reported that the Tennesseans responded to a request for teams to help the people in Louisiana begin cleanup after the devastating floods in the state.

The Southern Baptist North American Mission Board is helping coordinate the disaster relief effort by responding to requests that come through the affected Baptist state convention offices.

A team from Cumberland Baptist Association, based in Clarksville, will leave March 17. The team of about eight members will be led by Steve Dusenberry of Hillcrest Baptist Church, Clarksville.

On March 20, two chaplains, David and Pam Autry, of First Baptist Church, Parsons, are scheduled to leave.

Finally, on March 21 a team of about six workers from Hamilton County Baptist Association, based in Chattanooga, will head to Leesville . They will be led by Doyle Pittman of Red Bank Baptist Church, Red Bank.

More teams are needed because of the flooding near the Gulf, Jones said. Tennessee Baptists have been assigned to respond to needs in Louisiana, he noted.
