EVIL EXISTS —BUT SO DOES GOD

Before it Hits the PressOn Friday night, an unknown person or persons shot out the front entrance and windows of Calvary Baptist Church in Lafayette. The church van’s windows were also shot out.

Robbery apparently was not the motive. The vandals did not enter the church and nothing was taken.

Church members are left to wonder why. Was it teenagers out to do mischief on a Friday night? Was it someone who had a beef with the church? From all I know about Calvary, the rural church has been impacting its community in a positive way over the past few years under the leadership of pastor Johnny Beaver.

We may never know who actually caused the damage but we can rest assured that we know who was behind it — Satan himself. Evil is alive and well in Tennessee.

Though the church is left to pick up the pieces and sort through the mental process of trying to understand why, Calvary’s pastor is quick to point out that “God is still in control” and “He did not leave His throne on Friday night.”

In time, the church will heal and the pastor is committed to keeping the church focused on sharing the good news of Jesus Christ through its ministry in the community.

Church members can also cling to the promise found in Romans 12:21, KJV: “Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good.”

Read the end of the book (the Bible). God defeats evil.
