I’LL STICK WITH GOD’S WORD

Before it Hits the PressWhen it comes to understanding rocket science, I am lost. Science and math are two primary factors that led me to becoming a journalist.

Baptist Press, however, ran an interesting article on Feb. 7 that actually involves rocket science. A private company launched a rocket into space on Feb. 6 that they hope will eventually lead to the development of larger rockets that can transport humans to Mars.

A California Baptist director of missions, who actually has a degree in physics, observed that rockets and telescopes that reach further away from Earth may help humans attain a greater knowledge of God, according to the article.

He undoubtedly knows more about space and physics than I could ever hope to know, and he may be on target.

Yet, I don’t need photos from rockets sent to Mars to know about creation. All I need to know is Genesis 1:1 (Holman CSB) “In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.” The following verses give more details, but verse 1 sums it up for me.

God did it. End of story. I don’t need additional proof.

If photos from rockets and telescopes make it more believable to some people, so be it, but God’s Word is enough for me.
